The Harriers U7 Colts team arrived at the Whistable School to a warm welcome from the hosts of the tournament, Rising Stars.
The children were very much looking forward to paying some football following the cancellations that has been far too common in previous weeks due to various storms.
The Colts got off to a strong start, winning their opening game, followed by 2 losses, but then played a tense match with the group leaders in the final game and earned a well deserved draw. This was enough to see us finish 2nd in the group.
Following the group games, which saw the Harriers play some great football, we were in a tough semi-final. This game saw the Colts put on their best performance ever, there were chances both ends of the field but Harriers determination saw them deservedly win their semi-final and enter their first ever Cup final.
The final was a great match; we started strong and had a few chances that we didn't capitalise on, but defended brilliantly when we were under pressure ourselves. Harriers did themselves, their coaches and their parents very proud. The final was alost 2-0 to a very strong and deservedly winning Eastry side.
The Harriers U7 Colts going up and collecting their first ever medals and passing round the runners-up trophy was a great feeling, and one which the children will hold onto for a long time.
For the coaches, the most pleasing thing was seeing the hard work of the team in training converted into some great moments in the matches. Even in the games you lose, the development of this group will always be the winner.
