The First Decade 1998 - 2008
Herne Bay Harriers Youth Football Club was formed in 1998.
We started with 4 teams at under 9, 10, 11 and 13.
The 1999 season saw Herne Bay Harriers enter 6 teams and they picked up thier first ever silverware, winning the under 10 group without losing a game all season, and coming runners up in both of the under 9 groups.
Season 2000/2001 saw an expansion of 9 teams and again picking up a runners up trophy in the under 8 group and finishing in good positions in most other divisions.
7 teams were entered into the 2001/2002 season and again they finished with very good league positions all round and winning the under 10 division, our fourth trophy in just 4 seasons! The Harriers also spread their wings traveling abroad. The victorious under 10 side traveled to France and play against some local sides acquitting themselves very well.
Since the formation of the club The Harriers have worked to improve the standard within the club, both on the administration side, coaching and child protection, for the benefit of the players.
This hard work paid off in 2004 as they were able to get Managers and Coaches FA qualified and as a Club the Herne Bay Harriers were awarded an FA Charter, in recognition of the high standards within the Club.
Season 2005/2006 saw 10 teams entered into the campaign. The under 10's were crowned division 2 champions and the under 10's colts claimed the runners up spot in division 4.
2005 also saw the development of the new club web site, which is proving very popular. The site has all of the results and tables as well as other useful information. Also included on the website are the match reports, information for parents and general club news.
The start of the 2006/07 season saw the dedicated and capable Pete Tait step up from vice chairman to chairman after the departure of M. Gower who had served the club for many years. Best wishes to M. Gower for the future.
Neil Busby was elected as vice chairman.
The 2006/07 season saw 11 teams across 9 age groups entered in to the East Kent Youth League.
The under 14 were crowned champions of division 2, the under 10's finished runners up of division 3 as well as the under 13 's who finished runners up of division 2.
In the 2007/08 season 12 teams were entered with five playing top flight football in Division 1. There was success for the Under 9 Colts who landed the division 4 title without losing a game. The Seniors team had a fantastic cup run, sadly losing in the final to be runners up in the Alfred Albert Moore Memorial Senior Cup.
